Rebecca Parsons

Dr. Rebecca Parsons serves as the Chief Technology Officer and Technology Principal at Thoughtworks for more than 23 years now.

Before becoming part of the ThoughtWorks team, she was a Computer Science Professor at the University of Central Florida. She lectured on compilers, programming languages, distributed computation and optimization - among many other fascinating topics! Additionally, while working as a Director's Postdoctoral Fellow in Los Alamos National Laboratory she delved into diverse areas such as parallel computing, nonlinear dynamical systems plus genetic algorithms and computational biology.

Rebecca is also an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the tech industry, committed to increasing the number of women in coding. To this end, she has served on various boards such as CodeChix, Women Who Code, and Agile Alliance Board of Directors (where she was chairwoman for four years). Dr. Parsons has also spoken at many events including Collision Conference, Web Summit, YOW!, Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing.
